A key factor in databases are keys. In the below section you will find the description of the different keys and how they are used in accoONE-DB framework. Also refer to the user manual.

Business Key

The name of a Business Key is denoted by BK_"NameOfDimension"#"FieldName"

Examples could be: BK_Date#Int or BK_User#Id

A normal business key is a field directly from the dimension, example: Customer Number = BK_Customer#Number

ALL business keys MUST have null handling implemented. AccoOneDB considers blank texts to be a blank value and replaces these with unknown.

Referenced Business Key

The name of a Referenced Business Key is denoted by BK_"NameOfDimension"#"NameOfReferencedDimension"#"NameOfReferencedDimensionFieldName"

Examples could be: BK_User#Date#Int or BK_User#Company#Id

Referenced business keys use business keys from another dimension. This is typically the case with combined business keys such as if the customer is dependent on the company. So, for Dim_Customer, BK will be:

BK_Customer#Company"ID and BK_Customer#Number. The referenced part comes from the fact that Dim_Company exists and have the business key BK_Company#ID

Foreign Business Key

The name of a Foreign Business Key is denoted by FBK_"NameOfForeignDimension"#"NameOfForeignDimensionField"[#"DescriptiveName"]

Examples could be FBK_Date#Int or FBK_User#Id

It is possible to add descriptive information to the filed by adding #"DescriptiveName" to the field.

Examples could be FBK_Date#Int#Created or FBK_User#Id#OrderUser
